Information tech trends in 2021

--

Marketers were struggling to catch up with the year 2020. It was a year unlike any other, with recent affairs having a major impact on digital marketing trends. This laundry list should sound familiar unless you’ve been living under a rock: a cooling economy; devastating wildfires and volatile weather phenomena; and, of course, our former, pugnacious nemesis, COVID-19; socio-political chaos, involving mass marches, aggressive street clashes, and an impending election; a cooling US economy; destructive wildfires and unpredictable weather phenomena; and, of course, our old, pugnacious nemesis, COVID-19.

The good news is that it isn’t bleak. Moreover, several businesses are cautiously hopeful about the future. In light of all the craziness, we thought we’d compile a list of our digital marketing trends forecasts for the coming year. We have some thoughts about the path things will go in a few main fields of marketing, having spent most of 2020 right in the thick of it, helping clients in sectors like regulation, education, and healthcare negotiate these tumultuous times.

Although there are emerging trends and technologies to consider, you’ll note that many of these marketing tactics and trends aren’t really new, but they are changing in significant ways that can change the outlook in the future.

1. SEO

Since search algorithms are continuously changing, search engine optimisation (SEO) is still a moving target. The daily flux will undoubtedly continue in 2021. However, we’ve seen several patterns that seem to be more than mere “flash in the pan” improvements.

2. User Experience

User interface (UX) isn’t just a buzzword, and SEO professionals can’t afford to ignore it. Not only is it a best practices to develop consumer interfaces and consumer interactions from the user’s perspective — and for the user’s benefit — but it’s already become a key ranking factor for search engines.

3. Semantic search

The way people look for things on the internet can affect too much of the SEO culture in the future. While it can seem to be a straightforward concept, it is based on something a little more complicated: semantics. Semantics is the study of words, their associations, and the meanings of those relationships in different ways.

4. PPC (Pay-Per-Click) Advertising

The positive news is that pay-per-click (PPC) ads will continue to exist in 2021. PPC promotions that are strongly focused and successful will become much more critical to digital marketers. However, how marketers conduct focused and effective PPC strategies can vary slightly.

5. To Engage & Retain Customers Using Social Media

In 2021, businesses should expect to devote more money to social media marketing. During the second quarter of 2020, social media investments accounted for 24% of overall US marketing budgets, up from 13% the previous winter. During the COVID-19 pandemic, advertisers are putting a greater emphasis on consumer satisfaction. This trend is expected to persist well into 2021. The pandemic has significantly expanded people’s internet activity, and how they study products, brands, and organisations.

6. Automated Bidding in Google Ads

When we’re on the subject of automation. Google Ads advertisers are continually tweaking and adjusting advertisements, keywords, and bids in order to get the best bang for your buck. All of the tweaking, though, comes at a cost: more hours and higher management fees. Automated bidding helps Google to change the bid in real-time based on previous moves.

7. Enhanced Interactivity

Using digital features on your website or social media is a perfect way to give guests something of worth, encourage them to connect with your company, and learn more about them. Consider adding a basic but accurate mortgage calculator on your website if you’re a realtor. You’re now providing value to the guests and still learning more about them from the information they have in the calculator. This data will then be used to improve the personas and deal targeting.

While this list of digital marketing developments isn’t exhaustive, it’s a good place to start when preparing the marketing campaign for 2021. Most CMOs and marketing managers will increase their chances simply by allocating more money to social media and local search, creating more customised and immersive content, and increasing interaction with their customer-facing staff, when taken together.

These patterns will help you boost site traffic, create more leads, and improve revenue while keeping your loyal customers. They’re also essential for assisting you in comprehending digital marketing patterns and how they’ll affect the overall competitive landscape.
