Mobile Applications trends that will dominate 2021

Apps have taken over our lives in recent times. We have an app for any use, whether it’s waking up early to catch a train, getting into Meditative mode with a little yoga, finding the best path to a new location, or ordering a pizza to be delivered to your house. The changing consumer lifestyle is reflected in the smartphone app trends.

Apps have become a lot more common in the last year. In these trying times, more users are looking to smartphones for fast solutions. App developers will change the boundaries in 2021, capitalising on developments that will govern 2021 and beyond.

Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR)

AR and VR apps will play prominent roles in the future of smartphone apps, improving user interface in Android and iOS, which are the cornerstones of all mobile app growth patterns, in 2021.

Immersive interfaces have made it far simpler for software creators to bring visual layers of the physical world to smartphones, thanks to the introduction of Google’s AR Core and Apple’s AR Kit. In fields such as hospitals, hospitality, education, and tourism, AR and VR innovations can have a more immersive user interface.

The number of possible use cases is limitless. A couple of them that we saw in 2020 and that will become more prominent are as follows:

Holographic interaction in immersive activities will be possible thanks to 3D avatars or interactive spokespersons and will be more realistic than flat 2D footage. A professional photographer, expensive cameras, lighting, and expert Photoshop editing were all needed in the 2D era to create a product catalogue. Companies will embrace 3D objects and individuals this year in order to build photorealistic models that will sell better.

The positive news is that both pros and amateurs can now easily create these 3D models. 3D scanning software and 3D model guidelines are also widely available.

· 5G

The future of networks is next-generation wireless infrastructure. The pace of 5G would be up to 100 times that of 4G. According to Strategy Analytics, the number of cell phones with 5G connectivity will reach almost 600 million in 2021, and half of all phones will have 5G connections in 2022. In 2021, even low-cost phones will be able to link to 5G networks.

Live conferencing, video streaming, games, and even telemedicine would all benefit from faster speeds than we’ve seen so far.

· Foldable Smart Phones

Foldable screens will continue to dominate the world of smartphone applications. Xiaomi plans to release three foldable phones, each with a 7.22-inch display and a 6.22-inch display on the cover. Samsung will also be busy in 2021, with a line-up of expandable phones that the company says will be cheap. Although the focus of this movement is on Android, we should expect Apple to make announcements as well.

Foldable screens can be a blueprint for failure in terms of user experience. It would have an effect on existing user interfaces which would undoubtedly alter the introduction of new business apps. Apps for mobile devices would need to be optimised for both folded and unfolded screen sizes. This would add to the increasingly complicated situation with varying cell screen resolutions.

· Beacons and Nearby Networking

To aid governments in touch tracing, Google and Apple used Bluetooth signals through the Exposure Notification programming interface (API). Bluetooth can be used by a smartphone running an app that uses the Exposure Notification API to poke other nearby smartphones with a Beacon. The phone will save a list of beacons it communicates with in the area, and if a connection is found between the beacons it has saved and a positive list, the user will be alerted and given instructions about what to do next.

Beacon Technology will be used in some way or another in the future of smartphone applications. It can be widely used in a variety of sectors, including food and beverage, retail, logistics, tourism, and sports and concert venues.

· Hybrid Mobile App Development

Although this isn’t a recent app epidemic, the fact remains that native apps’ user interface is increasingly losing favour. Although there will still be certain experiences that can only be provided by native applications, hybrid apps will help save money and eliminate the headaches of creating content on multiple platforms.

App developers would need to expand their toolkit to include hybrid architecture platforms. Famous apps like Facebook and Instagram use React Native, which is controlled by Java Script.
